Justin was 12 years old when he entered a local singing competition in Stratford, placing in second.In late 2007 Justin and his mother began posting videos on YOU TUBE so that his family and friends that could not attend his performances would
be able to view them.A few months later he started posting videos. Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of ,SO SO DEF discovered Bieber, and later became Bieber's manager. Braun flew Bieber to Atlanta, Georgia where he met with R&B singer/songwriter Usher.Justin asked Usher if he could sing for him but in the nicest way possible he said no. But a week later Bieber had the opportunity to sing for Usher, who signed Bieber immediately. Usher was not the only star looking to sign the young talent, there was also Justin Timberlake who wanted to sign him. Justin later chose Usher. Usher took Bieber under his wing, and got him an audition with Antonio L.A. Reid at Island Records. Reid signed Bieber to Island Records in October 2008.
